The chances to exert yourself a bit, and to experience something that takes you (pleasurably) outside your day-to-day comfort zone, are plentiful in Morocco. A ascent of Jebel Toubkal in the High Atlas ticks both these boxes, and there are shorter, less demanding hikes available too. Morocco has also become a bit of a mecca for kitesurfers, and almost every Atlantic town offers the chance to try the sport. What about a 4×4 expedition to the largest sand sea in Morocco? Or cycling through the vast palm plantations of Skoura? A visit to Fez will provide plenty of exercise (as vehicles are banned in the medina!) and throw you into a medieval maelstrom that makes Marrakesh seem as familiar as your home town! There’s so much scope for these active, adventurous undertakings in Morocco, and it’s very easy to incorporate a number of them into most itineraries.
