You arrive at the dramatic chasm of the Todra Gorge having followed the shallow, and sometimes dry bed, of the Todra River and it’s hard to equate the carving of this remarkable canyon to the action of this tiny river! The mouth of the gorge has a small café and is a popular spot for picnics, but head a little further and the crowds thin out as the gorge walls rise above you, pock-marked with caves and seeming to almost touch at the top, casting the valley floor in near-permanent shadow. For those with time, a 4×4 and persistence, you can continue past the gorge and further up the river to where it joins the Dades River, and return to the main road via the Dades Gorge.
