A short drive up the valley beyond Ait Ben Haddou, Riad Caravane is close enough to the famous Kasbah to offer views of the lesser-seen rear of the fortified village from its terrace. This is a simple but very stylish hotel, as befits its elegant French owner. All the interior walls are smooth tadlahkt (adobe-like mud construction), which when combined with wooden furnishings, soft linens and earthen tones makes for a very sophisticated look. There’s not much more in the way of decoration, and this works well. An intimate dining room and courtyard with small pool complete this little gem.
